Melissa McDevitt is the Vice President of Diversity and Inclusion at Capital One. She is responsible for designing the company’s global diversity and inclusion strategy to build a workforce reflecting the communities and customers Capital One serves to innovate better products, services and customer experiences. Central to that strategy is recruiting and advancing talent with diverse backgrounds, lifestyles and perspectives and building a supportive culture where every associate feels understood, valued and respected. Partnering across the enterprise with Business Resource Groups, executives and associates, Ms. McDevitt and her team are strengthening an open, engaging and transparent environment where all associates feel like they belong.
Ms. McDevitt joined Capital One in 2000, as a front line manager in Credit Card operations. Over the course of her career at Capital One, she has held various leadership positions across Credit Card Operations, Collections, Brand Marketing, Process Engineering, Customer Acquisition and Management, Customer Experience Design, Customer Care Servicing and Big Data. Her leadership and expertise have driven innovation in operations strategy, customer experience and adaption of design thinking and product development. During her 16 years with Capital One, Ms. McDevitt has always been a passionate advocate for advancing diversity and inclusion initiatives. She co-founded and led the Card Business Women’s Network for six years and is influential in developing Capital One’s diversity recruiting, unconscious bias training and inclusive enterprise culture.
As an avid advocate for talent management and an active mentor, Ms. McDevitt enjoys coaching and developing others whether through her engagement with the Business Resource Groups, her team members or volunteering with Junior Achievement.
