D. Mychael Hymes

D. Michael Hymes is a seasoned Human Resource practitioner with forty plus years of experience in the energy and industrial distribution sectors. He is a resident of Tazewell, Virginia, and is President of HY Performance Management Consulting, LLC.

Mr. Hymes also serves as a member of the Tazewell County Board of Supervisors, and has served two terms as Chair of the Board. He has also represented Tazewell County on the Chief Local Elected Officials Consortium for Workforce Development Area One -serving three terms as Chairman of that body. In 2014, he ran as the Democratic candidate for the 38thDistrict Senate seat, and in 2016, he was the Governor’s appointee to the Virginia Coalfield Economic Development Authority.

Hymes is an active member of his community and his service stretches across the region. He has served as a founding Board Member and President of United Way of Southwest Virginia; former President of the United Way of Virginia; Vice Chairman of the Board of Carillion Tazewell Community Hospital; and a Board member of the Tazewell Community Foundation, the Historic Crab Orchard Museum and Pioneer Park, Cumberland Plateau Planning District, the Coalfield Water Development Fund, the Virginia Coal and Energy Alliance and the Administrative Board of Main Street United Methodist Church.

Hymes holds a BS degree in Business Management from Concord University and a MBA degree in marketing from the West Virginia University College of Graduate Studies. He is married to Cecelia G. Hymes with two sons Martin and Aaron and two grandson Preston and Elliott.
